A Study in Contrast
Many people think of jewellery as something for summer — when more skin is on show, it’s easy to enjoy wearing jewellery on your hands and wrists.
But I find jewellery especially beautiful in autumn and winter. Paired with warm, substantial materials like wool, cashmere and leather, the cool lustre of metal gives the whole look a subtle tension.
I’m drawn to this interplay of opposites. Like a pinch of pepper in a dish, or a touch of wasabi with sashimi, a small accent can pull the whole look together.
Try adding a single piece of jewellery to an outfit you love. That alone can change the way your hands look, complement your skin and let your own style come through naturally. The older I get, the more I find myself drawn to this kind of restraint.
